Though headquartered in North Alabama on the Tennessee River, AFC’s footprint spans nationwide. JOINT VENTURES

The strength of AFC’s joint ventures lies in the rich history and collaborative spirit that drive them forward. Each partnership has its own unique story, contributing to the growth of AFC and the agricultural community.

Bonnie Plants, LLC.

  • Headquarters: Opelika, Alabama
  • Overview: What began in 1918 as a backyard business by Bonnie and Livingston Paulk has grown into a national wholesaler known for supplying high-quality vegetable and herb plants to U.S. retailers. Since joining AFC in 1975, Bonnie Plants has expanded nationwide.
  • History and Growth: Today, Bonnie operates with 80+ stations: 700+ routes: and 17,000+ individual accounts. This growth is a testament to Bonnie’s dedication to quality and innovation in plant production.

GreenPoint Ag, LLC.

  • Headquarters: Decatur, Alabama
  • Overview: GreenPoint Ag was formed through the union of three agricultural cooperatives, reflecting collaboration and expertise to better serve rural farming communities in the Southern U.S.
  • Services and Reach: With a legacy rooted in service to farmers, GreenPoint Ag provides critical agricultural inputs and services, from seed and nutrient supply to advanced ag technology solutions, reaching farmers across 108 locations in 10 states.

AFC Feed, LLC.

  • Headquarters: Decatur, Alabama
  • Partnership: Formed in 2020, AFC Feed reflects AFC’s commitment to providing reliable, quality feed solutions for its members. The joint venture with Purina Animal Nutrition supports local farmers by offering both AFC and Purina-branded feed products.
  • Operations: AFC Feed oversees the purchase and manufacturing of feed products. The majority of bag and bulk feed sold to Co-op members is produced at the AFC Feed Mill in Decatur, Alabama.

Frank Currie Gin

  • Established: 1913 in Escambia County, Alabama
  • Overview: Frank Currie Gin is a living piece of history in Southwest Alabama, standing as a testament to family legacy and agricultural perseverance. Founded by H.W. Currie and passed down through generations, the gin has operated continuously for over a century.
  • Innovation and Legacy: Frank Currie Gin has not only survived industry challenges but thrived by embracing new technologies, such as the installation of Power Roll gin stands, which enhanced production efficiency.
  • Customer Service Focus: The company’s ongoing success is largely due to its commitment to excellent customer service and a team of competent employees, ensuring long-term relationships with farmers and buyers alike.

SouthFresh Aquaculture, LLC.

  • Founded: 1987
  • Headquartered: Northport, Alabama
  • Overview: SouthFresh Aquaculture’s story began with a focus on USA farm-raised catfish, starting with just 10,000 pounds of catfish processed per day, cutting each fillet by hand. Today, SouthFresh is a leading distributor of catfish and other seafood products, distributing to over 150 cities across the U.S. SouthFresh Feeds has a highly knowledgeable team that specializes in premium nutrition to optimize animal health and performance. They produce high-quality extruded and pelleted feeds for species such as catfish, tilapia, alligator, trout, cattle and more.

Cooperative Financial Services

  • Founded: 1993
  • Headquartered: Decatur, AL
  • Overview: Cooperative Financial Services offers financing options to meet both seasonal and long-term needs, empowering farmers and AFC member cooperatives to sustain and grow their operations effectively.
  • Growth and Innovation: Since CFS’s founding in 1993, its sole business had consisted of extending seasonal and term loans directly to AFC’s member cooperatives. In 2023, CFS expanded the scope of its lending services, implementing a new program to extend credit to finance the purchases of patrons of AFC members from their respective AFC member Co-op store.
